What does the immersion approach to learning Irish look like on a course?

 In

Immersion is not just a rule. It is how the whole course is organised.

Students have class in the morning, activities in the afternoon, and an evening activity or céilí. They live with a host family for the full course. Irish is the language used for the duration of the course, from the day they arrive to the day they leave.

Class is only part of it. Students use Irish for ordinary things through the day — asking for something in the house, sorting out an activity, talking to the other students they live with.
Staff and cinnirí are with the students through the day. Students are not expected to understand everything from the first day. Where a student is making the effort, they are helped and encouraged rather than corrected.
