Teálta vs Áras Pobail Chois Cuain vs An Tulach – differences between the 3 centres
Coláiste Chamuis operates two centres for the A1 and A2 courses and three centres for the B and C courses. Each centre runs independently.
The course curriculum, method of teaching, and standard of housing is the same across all centres. Activities and céilís are broadly the same. The main difference is the campus location.
In all locations, students stay with local Irish-speaking families in the vicinity of the Coláiste (normally 8–16 students per house).
Our three centres are:
- Teálta na hÓige, Ros a’Mhíl — 40.5km from Galway city. Our largest centre, based at purpose-built facilities owned by the Coláiste (240–260 students).
- Áras Pobail Chois Cuain, Ros a’ Mhíl — 39km from Galway city, based at the local community centre and nearby football grounds (140–160 students).
- An Tulach — 32km from Galway city, based at An Tulach Primary School, the adjacent community hall and football pitch (190–210 students).
When you book, you book a specific centre — that is your centre for the course. You will be allocated to whichever centre you select on the application form.
The option to choose your centre is particularly useful for returning students who wish to come back to a centre they are already familiar with, or for those whose brothers or sisters have previously attended and who would like to book the same centre their siblings knew.
